The typical working day invloves lots of meetings; meetings that are often inefficient in our increasingly globalized working environment. Participants may have to travel for many hours just to take part in a two-hour sales meeting; project team members travel half way around the world for an all-day meeting.

It happens more and more frequently that meeting dates clash, causing representatives to be sent in place of the actual experts needed, or causing the meeting to be unnecessarily postponed. Consequently, it is not just the high cost of holding such meetings that poses a problem but also the damage to productivity that can occur.

Simple telephone conferences are not always a suitable alternative to meetings, as they offer limited opportunities for interaction. Classic video conferences require appropriate rooms to be booked, and there are often only a few of these rooms available because of the high cost of fitting them with the necessary technical equipment.

Hyperwave IS/6 is the basis for the Real Time Collaboration solution. It creates a repository where documents of any kind along with their meta-information can be stored. It is full-text indexed so documents can be found quickly. It protects against unauthorized access to documents using an access rights system.

The Hyperwave Team Workspace (HTW) uses the IS/6 platform as a base to support collaborative work between virtual teams unimpeded by geographic and organizational boundaries.
